Meet Jamison Whiteman
Jamison Whiteman, a retired U.S. Naval Officer is a Vietnam Era and Persian Gulf War Veteran. He was born in the San Francisco Bay Area and as a member of a Navy family, he lived in various areas throughout the United States and overseas. Graduating from Pt. Loma High School in San Diego, he enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard, and upon his discharge he attended San Diego State University on the Vietnam Veterans’ GI bill receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in the Biological Sciences. He received his Master of Science from the University of Northern Colorado and returned to active duty as a career Naval Officer until his retirement. While on active duty he was selected to attend Baylor University graduate school where he was awarded his second graduate degree. He is also a graduate of the U.S. Marine Corps Amphibious Warfare School, the Marine Corps Command and Staff College, and the Defense Language Institute Thai Language Immersion Course. During his career, he served in a wide variety of assignments ranging from antisubmarine warfare operations to tours attached to the Fleet Marine Force.
He published his first novel, The Quietude of Calvary in 2021, and his second novel, The Shield Before Me was published in 2022. He has also written several short stories that will be included in an anthology describing the lives and history of Pacific Islanders. Additionally, he has published academic work in medical journals.
In addition to writing, Jamison is an accomplished musician and a brewer in the San Diego tradition of unbelievably delicious hand-crafted beers, but most importantly, he is a husband, father, grandfather, and firm believer in Jesus of Nazareth. Viva Cristo Rey!
Jamison and his wife, Pamela; a native of Coronado Island; are involved in a number of charitable organizations. They reside in San Diego County.
